Adószám (tax number)
The eleven-digit identifier issued by NAV that uniquely identifies every Hungarian taxpayer.
Also known as: Hungarian tax number format, what is an adószám.
The tax number splits 8-1-2: the first eight digits are the core number, the ninth is the VAT code, the last two the code of the competent tax directorate. The core number's eighth digit is a check digit, so a mistyped tax number can be caught by arithmetic.
The tax number is not the same as the company registration number, and neither can be computed from the other. Sole traders and companies both have one.
Where you find it on Felho
On every company profile, and in the title of every NAV record. The tax-number checker computes the check digit and splits the number into its parts.
